October's Full Hunter's Moon 2023 and what it means for your sign

You won’t be able to ignore this month’s full moon energy even if you try – it’s a cosmic big deal. When the moon lights up the skies on 28 October (it’ll be exactly full at 2123 in the UK) it signals the end of a Taurus/Scorpio eclipse cycle corresponding to a two-year period of growth and change in your life that began in November 2021. So, as much as you might not want to think back to what was going on for you then (#pandemicPTSD), something that started around that time could be about to reach a conclusion this weekend. Not sure what’s going down for you? Keep reading for all the intel you need to max out the potential of this full moon.
What is a Hunter’s Moon?
The full moon that follows the Harvest Moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon because it historically coincided with the time hunters headed out in preparation for the winter ahead, using its light to spot game. It usually falls in October but can occasionally fall in November due to the timing of moons around the autumn equinox.
And what is a lunar eclipse?
This full moon is a partial lunar eclipse, which means part of the full moon will fall into the Earth’s shadow, appearing darker. Weather conditions depending, this eclipse may be visible from Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia but as it’s only partial it won’t be a visually dramatic affair.
What is dramatic, however, is the astrological significance of this eclipse, which represents the end of a two-year Taurus/Scorpio eclipse cycle. Even if you don’t see the partial eclipse itself, if the clouds play ball, you should be able to spot planet of fortune Jupiter just below the moon on 28 October.
How to make the most of the full moon eclipse energy
Full moons are magical portals for manifestation and release, but eclipses bring their own astro energy to the table. Eclipses tend to bring big awakenings and realisations, and, well, that isn’t always comfortable. Try to remember that even as one door slams shut another will open as you navigate the intensity of this full moon eclipse. You may also feel the impact of a Mars and Jupiter opposition this full moon, which could bring all sorts of feelings and frustrations to the surface.
TL:DR? There are no easy rides this full moon, but if there ever was a time to leave an old damaging pattern of behaviour in the past this is probably it.
Many astrologers believe it’s best to lay off the moon rituals during an eclipse and instead allow whatever is coming up for you to reveal itself. In short, sit back, indulge in a spot of moon-bathing in and don’t be surprised if a light-bulb life-changing moment or conclusion strikes before Halloween.
