Brave Princess Merida to Appear on Disney Juniors Sofia the First

“Sofia the First” is welcoming special guest star, Princess Merida from Disney Pixar’s “Brave.” She will appear on the Oct. 12 episode of the animated series, Disney Junior announced Tuesday.
In the episode, Sofia’s Aunt Tilly returns to give the little princess a gift that will unlock a secret world and appoint her as the storykeeper of magical books in “Sofia the First: The Secret Library,” the first installment of a four-part story arc, which kicks off on Oct. 12 with Merida.
Ruth Connell (“Supernatural”) voices Merida, and “Downton Abbey’s” Hugh Bonneville lends his voice as the narrator throughout the four-part “Secret Library” episodes.
Bonnie Hunt returns to voice Aunt Tilly, and Eric Stonestreet reprises his role Sofia’s flying horse, Minimus, reuniting with his “Modern Family” costar Ariel Winter who plays the title character, Sofia. “Breaking Bad’s” Dean Norris is a guest voice actor on the episode, playing Minimus’ brother, Mazzimo, and Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride”) will guest star as the nefarious Prince Roderick.
To accompany the “Secret Library” TV storyline, Disney Publishing Worldwide will release the illustrated storybook and e-book “Sofia the First: The Secret Library,” followed by an app on Oct. 8. A full-length preview of the episode and a “Secret Library” game will debut on the WATCH Disney Junior app and website on Oct. 5.

The “Brave” princess is also coming to television in the upcoming fifth season of ABC’s “Once Upon A Time.” Scottish actress Amy Mason will play Merida in the “OUAT” storyline, which was first previewed this summer at Comic-Con.
The four-part “Secret Library” storyline debuts with Merida’s episode Oct. 12 on Disney Channel at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT and on Disney Junior at 7:00 a.m. ET/PT.
